Presented in collaboration with Dandelion House and Community Powered ATX. While SXSW creates infrastructure to draw in tourists, politicians, military officials, and the elite for only one week of the year, long time Austin residents face the consequences. Unhoused people are criminalized and pushed farther to the margins, entire neighborhoods are colonized by Airbnbs, historic Black and Brown communities are dispossessed and dispersed, and working class renters are priced out and forced to move farther out of the city over and over again. Join us for a roundtable discussion about building power across groups to fight predatory landlords and rampant development, work towards housing justice, organize against gentrification, and beyond.
